About

Melissa Galley has facilitated Bible study at River City Community Church in the San Antonio area for over 20 years, where her husband, Paul, currently serves as the Business Administration Pastor. Melissa’s ministry focus is in connecting people to Christian community and encouraging spiritual growth. As a former educator in both public and private schools, Melissa has a passion to equip believers of all ages in discovering and celebrating the excellencies of Jesus Christ. Melissa and Paul live in Schertz, Texas. They have two adult sons, a daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren.

My husband and I were at a large Galley family gathering a number of years ago when the topic of conversation turned to news about a discovery that a cousin had found in his research of the family’s genealogy. My father-in-law brought out a photo of a crest used centuries ago by distant forefathers. The image of a tree with green leaves above three blue waves brought the verses in Psalm 1 to our minds simultaneously. “How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:1-3 (NASB) I love this image so much so that I created a banner and posted it near an entry in our home so that we would be reminded in our coming and going. There is a multitude of symbolism here, however, I am most conscious of the fact that being rooted in Christ and connected to His family brings life. Seasons of various kinds, both joyful and hard, will come and go. In Christ I can “delight” in His presence and as I follow in His ways, He not only sustains my soul, but also yields the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Statement of Faith

I believe:

o   In the ONE triune God who reveals Himself in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, eternally existing, who alone is to be worshipped and glorified.

o   Jesus Christ as the Son of God who is 100% man and 100% God: His virgin birth, His sinless life, His physical atoning death on the cross, His physical resurrection, His ascension into heaven, and His future return.

o   That God desires a relationship will ALL mankind and provides salvation by His grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

o   In the indwelling and power of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer that not only seals our inheritance in God’s eternal kingdom, but also equips us for the work God has prepared for us to do.

o   That the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God.

o   That Jesus will return to this earth, judge both the living and the dead, and resurrect to eternal separation from God those who are lost and resurrect to life eternal with Him those who are saved – His Church.
